While I am quick to criticise I have got to saay
Todays game was one of the best games for the
Cougars in a long long time, just fantastic.

Hard to pick stand out players from such a brilliant game
but for me it had to be Peltier & Handfirth.

Well played Cougars , fantastic game !!!!!

Yes what a great start to the season. Ok a few sloppy moments but the team looked strong. It looks like Marchy has chosen wisely in Handforth - someone to provide leadership and creativity. Haven didnt give up and just when they got a sniff we finished them off (sometimes the problem in the past). I am sure the season will have lots of twists and turns but 3 points are in the bag!!

Good result, an important three points. A long hard season lies ahead lets keep up the passion and keep building and get as many points as we can.

Really enjoyed today (even though i felt ill as ****) and thought team played well.
Winning the home games will be massive so 3 points is welcome.

Special mentions today for Guess Who who supplied the pain relief and TrueBrit for the comedy moments in the bar.

I really enjoyed the game today. Great contributions from Josh Lynham, Paul Handforth, Daley Williams... I could go on. Richie B got stuck in, James Craven looked great. I feel I could go through all 17 players. Peltier really looked the part. I think what I'm saying is that it was a really great TEAM effort - everyone made a contribution and that was the best thing about it for me. As I walked along Royd Ings Avenue before the game I was more than a little apprehensive about what the outcome might be, worrying that we might get turned over and that a defeat would herald a difficult season but the drive back up the A1 afterwards was a very satisfying one. Cheers lads.

And my niece thoroughly enjoyed her first ever RL match. She will be back!

Pretty much thought the same as Countydurhamcougar.

There are still areas to work on but it seemed more a complete team performance than we've seen for some time. A definite pat on the back for Marchy.

I thought Ross Peltier produced some storming runs today, if he keeps on like this I can see him becoming a fans favourite.

I expected more from Whitehaven, who were let down by poor 5th tackle decisions. Gardner produced a fine try in the first half then hardly saw the ball again, and when he did was immediately smashed by a cougar. I think they will still be a difficult team on their home ground.

Donny will be an interesting game, we've been lacklustre at times against them. Our extra new found creativity might make the difference.

Have to agree with all of the above posts.
The MotM could have gone to 3 or 4 players.

The best thing for me was the improvement in the defence. I loved the use of one man rushing at the player about to receive the ball.
