All true, which is exactly what makes this a difficult issue.
There are so many questions for the club to ask themselves.
How many would come to home games in CC1 if it was £14 in? Would that price put away fans off coming?
Conversely, how many would come if it was only say £10? If there was an increase in support would it improve gate receipts, other revenue like food and drink sales?
How many of the squad can we realistically afford to keep? If we keep the same squad on the same terms and go undefeated all next season then that's 3-4 times the winning pay we have to shell out compared to this season which could send the club under. How many players will want to sign next season? How many will want to stay at championship level? How many are surplus to requirements? Do we integrate the likes of the Copperthwaites and Haythornthwaite fully into the first team and let the talented young local players in the reserves get experience?
All in all I think the most important thing is the long term future of the club, not how good the team we have out on a Sunday, not what division we're in and not how many trophies we win. The mistakes of previous boards must be learnt from. The club must be run as a viable business and not as an enterprise to fuel the ego trips of board members, sponsors and various hangers-on like has happened in the past.
