Well said Rach , It's always the people who give their all that get the hate....
Maybe if more people voluteered to help on matchdays home or away then clubs
would be in a better position !
Like an earlier post said ,it's not like the extra couple of minutes would have made
the game a win for us ......
Keep up the good work Rach.....not all of us are haters.

I think the people who had a go at Rach should take a long hard look at themselves and realize that Rach does a good job, and does a hell of a lot for the Cougars and I for one appreciate what she does for the club.

As for the supporters who slag off the ref, or anyone else involved in the running of the game, then why don't you go out there and do the job, you can obviously do better than the people that are out there now.

I was behind the posts for the York game, and couldn't believe my ears when a supporter had a go at the ref because he made the correct call, a forward pass, by the Cougars which was about a foot forward and he disallowed a try because of it, but it was the correct call.

I think some people need to get a grip and realize that the Cougars will come good, but they want instant success and that is really pathetic, so get a grip and just enjoy the rugby and if we win, then great, if we lose, then so what, the cougars will come good just give them time.

1. I think you'll find Stealth was actually making the point that there was no chance of us winning even if the game had gone on for another 1 min 45 secs.

2. If you take the time to investigate (round the back) the Cougar Park clock is a marvel of good engineeering - when you see the gizzards of the mechanics it is amazing how accurate it is when so old.

3. The only time a clock in a ground shows the official time, is when its on the big screen at a live broadcast Sky / BBC match. I hope the players realise this as well and don't decide tactics based on what the unofficial clock says. Maybe they did at the end of the first half at Sheffield? ?

Yes I know, it was other forum posts regarding rabbitohs last minute comeback. Largely I was agreeing with Stealth.

I have seen the clock being nudged with a stick! It gives a rough idea but it hardly Swiss watch engineering. I love that clock, it's my facourite part of the ground and should be a listed building.

I'm with you there. If the Cougars should ever move to a brand spanking new ground or if Cougar Park should ever be redeveloped, that clock and the scoreboard with the metal plate numbers MUST form part of the new / redeveloped stadium. We've all grown up (and older!) with it - it's part of our Cougar history.
.
Having watched Micky's video from last night, it looks to have been a bad-tempered afair at times. Our defending on their third try was pretty woeful - I couldn't quite make out who was wearing 12 last night but the attempt to get hold of the Eagles' ball carrier looked a bit flimsy to say the least. We seem to have found a level in this league which we're finding difficult to improve on at the moment; generally speaking we lose to the teams above us in the league and beat those below us. It would be a bonus if for example we could do enough in the coming weeks to beat Leigh at least once. Looking at the season as a whole, after being promoted last season, I'm going to look at things in a positive way. Onwards and upwards for our team.

I am one of those that likes a bit of banter with the opposition's supporters and to boo the referee at a percieved slight. It is all part of the humour of our game. Where I draw the line is when the final whistle blows we clap our side and theirs and applaud the the officials.
If we are blaming time keepers or referees for the loss of a game then we have to take along hard look at ourselves. Our game prides itself in the behaviour of our supporters and any abuse of officials is simply unacceptable. Those responsible should be named and shamed and I hope would be brave enough to apologise to Rachel without requiring the amount of Stella Artois that no doubt fuelled this particularly unsavoury incident..

:? Name and shame who :?: As I have said, i only saw one guy getting really angry about it.

So what if someone gets angry about someone not being able to keep a clock right in a rugby ground, its not the end of the world. Next you will be saying they should get a life ban.

Unless something worse happened after I left the ground, although I doubt it. What an over reaction. :CHILL: :CHILL:

I suggest you read Rachel's original post. The words used in it when refering to the abuse she received were SOME, SUPPORTERS, THOSE. Unless I am mistaken the words used would point to more than 1 person being involved in this incident. May be a trip to Spec Savers is required if you only saw 1.

You obviously have lower standards as to how RL supporters should behave than the majority and your attempts to defend such behaviour speaks volumes. :SUBMISSION:

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Anon.

This is not about someone getting angry about an incorrect clock. TWO people were having a go at Rach and one was abusive. Shouting at the clock is one thing, abusing a fellow fan and loyal club employee and volunteer (she was a volunteer on the day) is out of order.

If the people in question have any decency they will apologise the next time they see Rach.

I half though she would revert to her days as a distinguished prop forward and give him the "steamroller". There was certainly steam coming out of her ears.

The only people that need to "chill" are those that handed out the abuse.

Well I had 'chilled out' until I read that drivel posted by RBear.

There was without doubt somewhat more than one person throwing some real nasty abuse in my general direction at the final hooter and whether it was fueled by either alcohol or just a general frustration at the result ,it shouldn't have happened .

To be fair I've already had an apology via a third party from one of the 'complainants' ,which was appreciated by myself and accepted with good grace .I was as Dreamer said (and I think my OP demonstrates) not a happy bunny and was ready for a liitle "Marchy type' solution on the way out of Don Valley but luckily was talked out of it by some very good (and patient) friends!

Perhaps RBear would like to volunteer stand in the middle of the field at half time at the Dewsbury game and allow the crowd to abuse him at will..then say it's an 'over reaction'.
