Sounds a brilliant idea!

Why not approach the Club through their website so that they actually receive it?

Thanks, hehe.

Well I'm not actually a Keighley fan, so one of you guys should feel free!

Besides, I plan to own a club myself one day and will implement things ideas like these myself... 8)

All gone a bit quiet on here hasn't it

So how about your BOD having a chat with the Fax BOD and agreeing to put free transport on for each others away fans at your respective home games this year ?

Interesting idea Starbug. Is this to ensure both games are well attended?

Another potential option would be to announce a car share to games. E.g. anyone travelling or passing through Keighley can declare how many spare spaces in their car. (Maybe that's be done before or maybe it damages receipts from the away travel bus if the club puts one on).

Free buses would be interesting and that I think would have to depend upon the take-up as to whether or not it would ensure extra gate receipts at both the fax game and the keighley game and thus be commercially beneficial to both clubs.

It's a great idea, especially considering that even though Fax and Keighley are 2 decent sized towns only 10 miles apart, public transport between the 2 is pretty much non existent. No train line for longer than I've been alive and the bus service has been scaled back/ got rid completely. The only way to get there now is via Br*dford, Leeds and Hebden Bridge.

If it's free as well, it would entice those who would normally drive to come by coach and spend a few quid on a few ales in the bar.

Re: Ideas section. : Sun Dec 04, 2011 1:35 pm
The idea being to improve the atmosphere at both matches , to be financially benificial you would need around an extra 50 % to travel , depending on the costs ? , the secret is to have it as a challenge to both sets of fans to take more than the others , it would also require fans to pre purchase tickets

I suggested something similar a couple of years back when you and Dewsbury where both in Championship 1 , and both games were on TV , Helen put it to the board and they were seriously considering it , but decided not to go through with it , a shame really as they would have had TV money to spend on marketing the games

Last year ourselves and Widnes put on 8 free coaches for the NRC semi final at the LSV , so around an extra 300 fans probably attended who might not have done [ Widnes brought I think 2/3 coaches to the league fixture 2 weeks earlier ]

We need to do all we can to build up the profile of the games we play , to make them more of an ' event ' , I notice there are mentions of a return of ' Cougarmania ' , that would be fantastic , along with a start of ' Faxmania ' , Leythermania , Eaglemania , etc , etc

It is where we as clubs have to go

All the best

I think it's a good idea, but it's bit of a 'quick fix'.

Emphasis should be put on attracting and retaining home fans.

Just specifically on this season ticket issue for a second; the clubs biggest names, like Demetriou, Korkidas etc should be used to personally call fans in the database who have not yet got a season ticket (if this initiative is struggling, they could even offer to personally deliver the tickets). They're not going to hang up on a big-name player/coach so this will allow enough time for them to hopefully talk them into a sale. A big push should happen before Christmas so that hopefully some of the targets are met. The more that are sold, the more this thing has the potential to snowball, just a few more need to make that 'leap of faith' though...

What part of making the match day experience more exciting by having a better atmosphere because there is more away support is a ' quick fix ' ?

The better the atmosphere , the more likely your home support will increase

You dont understand the principle involved , have you attended Championship matches with around a 1,000 in attendance including a handful of away support ?

Is that as exciting as 20,000 at the DW when you play Saints , and they bring 3/4,000 ?

I am not suggesting an extra 2/300 fans will solve all the problems of clubs like ours , we do need to do much more to get people in , but if they attend and find it boring comparered to what they see on the TV , they aren't going to come back , are they ?

No I get it and it is a good idea. But what I'm saying is, would the extra amount of fans making the trip be enough to offset the cost of the free transport? AND, would you be taking many fans who would have already made the trip anyway? I'm just not sure it would work. Also, if 1000 Fax fans decided they wanted the free trip, then were talking 20 coaches. How much would that cost??

I think the season ticket thing I mentioned is something that should be being done as we speak as it costs next to nothing to run...

Well if you manage to get an extra 50/60 % you'd probably break even [ but gain a few quid on spends at the match ] , any more than that and you gain , but the money isn't the primary motive , a better match day experience is the result you are looking for

If a 1,000 Fax fans decided to attend I'd suggest that the Keighly BOD would be happy to pay to get them there

How about an ongoing competition to find "The Fastest Fan In Keighley".
At every home game, four fans who have handed their names in earlier in the week race round the perimeter of the track. That would involve say around thirty fans in a season, sixty if there were two separate races each time. Then at the last home game the fastest four have a race off.
While this was happening there should be no noise or shouting about the event from the man on the mike, giving spectators the chance to talk to each other.
