Shickell has scan. : Fri Mar 13, 2009 8:24 am
Cougars' try-scoring prop forward Andy Shickell had a scan on his knee injury on Tuesday.
The powerful front rower has missed the last three matches with the problem and has undergone a scan in order to assess the extent of the injury.
Head Coach Barry Eaton said: “We shall know early next week what is causing Andy’s problem and then we can decide what kind of treatment he needs”.
Now that prop Craig Brown has undergone surgery on the hand he broke in the Carnegie Challenge Cup Third Round win over French Elite ‘A’ club Pia Donkeys last Saturday, the Cougars are down on front row power.
It is anticipated that Australian Brendon Rawlins who returned to Australia to facilitate his British work permit will be returning the Keighley on March 18.
Added Eaton: “Fortunately we don’t have a game this weekend which gives a breathing space.
“If Brendon gets back on the 18th we’ll have time to assess his condition and if he has retained his fitness we’ll consider him for our opening game in the Co-operative Championship One against Oldham on March 22”.
