If that what it takes to stop club relying on average players, then lets hope it works. Anything has to be better than this.

The exchange rate and the huge new NRL TV deal are more likely to stop Australians coming over.

Still less Aussies doesn't automatically equal better English talent.

To do that we also need to increase the player pool and improve the coaching at grass roots level.

In theory very good however when super league clubs try every trick in the book to get players classed as non quota it becomes hollow. I refer to Willie Masons impending arrival at HKR. In order to get here to top up his pension he had to get a Tongan passport eligible due to his mother being born there, nothing illegal but I feel it to be morally wrong for any player to in his case be proud to play for and be australian to jump ship this way is disappointing as the idea to reduce overseas player was in part to bring on british players to strengthen the national team. This in my view defeats the objective and whilst in this case is HKR by no means limited to them. Sadly I do not see this changing.
