On tonights Boots N All they were on about Wakefield's future in the superleauge.
Eddie Hemmings said "why is it Wakefield got docked 4pts for going in to addmin and Widnes got 9pts docked" Not forgetting us. Phil Clarke could not answer. He went on about Wakefield will not be in the S/L
next season. I think there's 1 rule for S/L & other rules for championship sides.
What say you out there in Cougar land?

Superleague is only 2 points for a win, iirc its 4 points in both Championship divisions, so that relates to part of it. On the other hand, SL is 27 game season, ours is about 20
So theirs is lenient, or ours harsh, but not so drastically so. I suspect Championship equivalent of SL deduction is about 7 points though, but I'm sure there are better mathemeticians than me out there. (Or 5 for SL teams?)

The conspiracy theorists amongst us (me included!) would probably have expected Wakey to get a more seevere penalty, just to ensure that they lose their SL status - after all, we don't want TOO many successful West Yorks clubs, do we? That would make the sport look like it was more of a Yorks/Lancs thing, with an off-shoot in Cumbria...

The points deduction is also relative to whether the debt is to be repaid of written off. In both Wakefield and Crusaders cases the debt (not sure whether the fully 100%) is to be paid off. I think ours was written off. I also agree re the conspiracy theory.

In Crusaders' case I believe they got a lower points deduction because the new regime agreed to a deal which would mean all money owed to the RFL would be paid back but nothing else including HMRC. It is said that this may have been the reason why HMRC came after Wakefield. After all, I don't think they'd owed the tax debt for very long, maybe a few months, as they paid a big tax debt off with a loan.

I think the problem is lack of transparency again with the RFL.

No one is sure of the correct penalty.

This is also the case for player suspensions
