The Cougars Under 16's won their first ever game against West Bowling, Bowling have several players at the Bulls and at least one at Leeds.Team:

The Cougars started off well in defence keeping Bowling out in 3 consecutive sets. Walsh made a good 40m breakdown the right but lost control of the ball when tackled. A few more great defensive sets and a couple of penalties saw the Cougars on the Bowling 20m line. An offload from Harris allowed Chamberlain to draw the centre and winger in and floated a pass to centre Priestley to open up the scoring, Haigh missed the conversion. 4-0. Some more great defence followed but the Cougars gave away 3 penalties on the bounce and allowed Bowlings scrum half to step and weave under the posts. 4-6. However inthe final 8 minutes of the first half Buckley gave a drop off to Light who ran sideways, found a gap and bursted through it and scored next to the sticks, Buckley converted. 10-6.
After the break the Cougars got right in the oppositions faces with some big hits. After a few repeated sets in the Bowling half substitute Jarman passed from dummy half to A.Keedy who ran a great line to score from 5m out, Buckley conversion. 16-6. But Bowling kept on coming and made some breaks which fustrated the Cougars players, also the Bowling loose forward was getting in the Cougars faces which nearly started a fight. Another fight nearly started later on behind play as the Bowling loose forward aggrevated Walsh. Bowling got a penalty but were kept out. The next time Bowling were in the Cougars half their hooker tapped itfrom a penatly and ran at the defence, he finally put the ball ovr the line after what was at least a 10 second held up. 16-12. But the Cougars produced some good defence to hold the lead and won 16-12.
The Under 15's won their game 22-12.
