Under 18's robbed : Sun Sep 25, 2011 5:29 pm
Keighley 13 Thatto Heath 17Sadly, the U-18's season came to an abrupt end, when they were denied at the death by a late try.
Anthony Chapman had an effort ruled out for double movement. After visitors had a penalty hit the post, the games 1st points came on 25mins with a converted try to the visitors. Keighley responded with a try through Aaron Nicholson. But Thatto scored again to lead 10-4 halftime.
Keighley started the 2nd half great, Josh Ives took advantage of a gap to score and Ben Stead added the extras to level.
However Keighley were having to contend with a referee who was favouring the visitors heavly. This was evident when Tom Courtney had a try ruled out, the ref claiming held up, when at 1st he looked as if he was about to give the try.
Drop goals were exchanged, Stead with Keighleys. The scrumhalf then added a penalty goal with less that 2 minutes to go. But after a late scrum from a knockon that went back, the visitors scored from the last play of the game to qualifiy for the semifinals.
I should add that Thatto played the game in the right spirit and cant fault them. Both teams deserved to win.
