Just heard from Gary Fawcett that today's game against Batley is OFF due to frozen pitch.

I wonder would it still be off if kick off time was 3.30.
The pitch would have a bit more time with the sun on it.

From my view down the valley I see only cloud and mist.

From recollection the main stand casts a large shadow over the ground at this time of year so a large patch on that wing stays frozen. We have had games called off due to this before.

The sun sets at just after 4pm so the ground would start to re-freeze pretty quickly unless we had a really warm day.

I'm not sure how effective covers are, especially when laid on top of an already frozen pitch.

My lawn is solid and there is an inch of ice on the rain butt, but I am half way "up the hill" and its quite often colder up here than the valley bottom.

I remember Dave 'farmer' Marshall telling me that there is strip of the pitch in front of the old 'scrattin' shed' side that is last to thaw as it never sees any sun. Supposed to be mild again by Wednesday.

I'm on my way to Leeds to do a bit of shopping. Passing through Saltaire I can say that the canal is frozen. Having lived on the canal side previously I can safely say that it doesn't start to freeze unless it's around minus 5 degrees.

I don't think this game had any chance of going ahead to be honest.
