Good News .... : Thu Nov 01, 2012 12:48 pm
Just heard about this and its probably one of the best pieces of news I've heard all year...The Cougars long serving Youth Development Head (also 1st team Football Manager , Scholarship Manager , community development officer , part time groundsman, kit man receptionist , coffee maker et etc) 'the Legend ' that is Jeremy Crowther has been shortlisted for the 'Outstanding Contribution to Schools Rugby League Award' that is presented annually jointly by the RFL and the English Schools RL.
I think anyone who knows Jez and is aware of the tremendous amount of work has put in with local young players both in schools and in the Cougars Junior Ranks over the years will understand how well deserved the nomination is.
From the clubs point of view he's overseen the development of such players as Ben Sagar , James Haythornthwaite and the current crop of young players signed this year and he's been one of the Pioneers of the Girls game leading both Holy Family and Settle to Champions Schools Finals at Wembley.
The Final awards ceremony will take place at the Salford City Stadium a week on Sunday prior to the Autumn International Final and Jez is up against Mark Glover From Settle School and Ceris Dixon from St Peters School in Manchester .
I think all Cougar Fans will join me in wishing Jeremy the best of luck and congratulations on his nomination
