Match day programme? : Mon Feb 11, 2013 4:52 pm
A friend showed me the match day programme from the Whitehaven game as I didn't get to the match Sunday and I do like to collect them home and away. WHAT was this on Sunday - is this what we are going to expect all season
Fans thoughts please? :READING:

Not bought it since they doubled the price and started using the same one as every one else
with just a small section on the cougars.
Is tthe new one as bad as that one ?

Last year I commented on the programme how it looked nice and colourful on the cover, but when flicking though, it was full of adverts.

Is it still the same this year?.

There's a really nice chap that's been involved with the club as a volunteer I think for years and has always wanted/offered to get involved with the programme making it something great for all fans of all ages to read but unfortunately last year I believe there was too many obstacles thrown in front of him and yes this was all offered from a volunteer. Adverts are needed to help cover the costs of the programme but ours is one of the worse I have seen from any club in years. They might as well be stood there selling a yellow pages.

To be brutally honest, there is the knowledge and ability available to make our programme great, but the club put the blockers on it and want it to look a certain way, with the adverts in a certain place etc to cut down the cost. The blame for this lies firmly with the club I'm afraid. I'm not convinced Gary and Co are too bothered about selling the programmes or how they look, it's just an income stream from putting adverts in it. They get their money from that so anything on top is a bonus. I could be wrong though....?

This is an idea I mentioned last year and I think it has some merit so I think I am going to contact the club about it. As the club want to be as involved with the community as possible, why don't the approach Keighley College's media department and get them to put a matchday programme together surely this would benefit both the club and the media students. They could have some advertising space in there for local businesses to raise funding for the project, but I see that as a win win situation for both the club and the students at the college.

I put the programme together last year as was asked to try and improve what was widely regarded as the worst in rugby leage. I hope I did a reasonable job and tried to make it a bit entertaining, informative and representative of the club. The physical task took me many hours of unpaid work every week but you do that sort of thing if you want to see Cougars go forward. The upshot is I ended up washed out and feel I can't do it this year so perhaps someone on here could have a go? I warn you you will get little in the way of thanks and plenty in the way of abuse for things out of your control.

Btw just to add the testimonial is organized by an independent committee of volunteers and is run totally separate from the club.

Cougar Legend Paul Moses Is Chairman , whilst local Business Man Graham Jackson from HB Clark's is overseeing the finances.Acting as hon sec is Wendy Holder with ' Lawkholme Len' overseeing the brochure.

Other committee members are James snr, Busters Dad and Colin 'half time draw!' Spencer along with Ang and Al Dickinson representing ' A Walk for Estelle' , Busters Charitable Cause for the year, also I'm creating the website posters and the like plus doing the social media stuff.
