6th Minute at Leigh Sports Village : Mon May 11, 2015 6:40 am
North Stand supporters at LSV organised a 6th minute tribute to Danny Jones, at their match against Halifax yesterday. Applause and chanting of Danny's name, were the order of the day. Most of the stadium joined in, having impeccably observed a minute's silence prior to the game.Bizarrely, and somewhat predictably, 'Fax scored during the 6th minute tribute! Ironically, the try was scored by the 'Fax number 6, Scott Murrell, after the Leigh number 6, Martyn Ridyard, dropped the ball near his own line! We hadn't realised that the players must have organised their own tribute for that 6th minute too!
Movingly, the tribute to Danny continued, the try being virtually ignored by both sets of fans! Remarkable!
R.I.P. Danny and deepest condolences to his young family, friends, team mates and supporters at the Cougars. We will ALL miss the young man, and will never forget him.
