How far the team has come : Wed Apr 12, 2017 12:18 pm
When you look at it this weekend and the end of May are the two weekends coaches dread, double fixtures over the weekend. Very tough on the players, coaches and all involved. Even for fans when they are asked to dig into their pockets for entrance fees twice in a matter of days. The fixtures we've been given are the toughest really out of anyone. This weekend we play the current league leaders then the defending champions. Then at the back end of May when the next double fixture weekend happens we are away to the defending champions. (Maybe there is some payback with us getting Widnes at Magic Weekend?)
Most years such a set of fixtures would have me cringing, feeling it is unfair that we have to play the top teams on such a short turnaround. This season though I'm really excited. They are mouth watering fixtures and Sky seem to think they are the picks of the weekend due to them both being on TV this Easter weekend.
Whilst without being too optimistic, we might not be favourites for these matches but we feel like genuine contenders in the matches. If we win, people will notice. However it won't be the BIG shock it used to be in years gone by.
For all of this credit must be given to the players, Chester, Kear and even MC for helping build the team we've become. With so much distraction and worry going on with regard to the stadium situation it is nice to have things looking so positive (for now) on the field.
