The argument was for situations like the Leeds v wolves game. Sutcliffe couldn't come back on due to foul play so the 18th man would be able to come on in his place so a team don't have a reduction in bodies on the subs bench. They also talked about the possibility of sin binnings being turned into sendings off with real time reviewing by video ref so a team getting hurt gets the advantage in real time rather than a player missing games in the futurr
Yeah I watched the RLonRY Youtube video on Monday and when they brought them up I didn't think they were bad ideas tbh. Didn't they say that the NRL are looking into bringing them in over there?
We've been on a few ends of players going off injured and not being able to return a number times. When it happnes early on in a game it can especially change the balance of play. A team's left with just 3 bench men, while sometimes the opposition have their full compliemnt and a player has either just being penalised for the incident, or has been put on report. Obviously the concept needs looking into and analysing more closer into the pros and cons. As mentioned above it potentially could be open to abuse but I'm sure if the call on players fitness is made by an impartial Dr or something along those lines, it's worth a debate.
I also think if we've got the technology at the games we should use it. It's always been a bit of a grey area, where the team that's affected by the foul play often don't recieve any benefit at all. It's more often than not the teams they play the weeks after that do, once the disciplinary have seen the incident.
