Yes, five years ago, this is now, things have changed. As for Featherstone, it's a village team not in the top flight and it's stadium is wholly adaquate for where they are today.

Things haven't changed that much. Not a single brick has been laid at either stadium, plus Lateral have only agreed to build Cas a 10,000 capacity stadium and they could definitely use some more money for a bigger stadium. They can't really put money towards one team without putting the same amount towards the other one otherwise you'd have people somewhere kicking off.

The difference between us and Castleford is that there is a perfect legal agreement in place that should deliver the Stadium. No stadium then no development and no developers profit.

We have a UU that is far from perfect and I would feel more relaxed if we tore up the UU and replaced it with a perfect agreement as promised by Peter Box in the Council Chamber but as of today we have sweet FA and no real prospect of getting anything.

Yeah wouldn't argue with any of that. They should do their best to sort us a watertight agreement just like they have with Cas. I was just pointing out that it is easier for York Council to build a community stadium as there are no competing factions under their jurisdiction.

Fair point. I was just point out that there is only one Club in the District that is under pressure with its stadium. Nothing built at Glasshoughton but with the agreement in place there is less pressure from the RFL on them than on us.

Didn't we have to let the RFL know our stadium plans by the end of July? Is that still the case? And what would happen if we didn't have a plan?

Just to clear a few things up - the new stadium is still a hell of a long way off. A lot of York fans will believe it when they see it. York did indeed move out of their Huntington ground on the agreement that land would be made available for the new stadium and they could use York City's ground. Unfortunately the previous owner was, shall we say, a difficult character at times and didn't get on with many, including the chairmen of the football club and York council. At one point they found themselves playing matches at Featherstone Rovers (I believe for a full season) plus amateur York clubs Heworth and Clifton. I can't remember if that was a breakdown in relationships - it was before I was involved with the club. There have been all kinds of delays. A cinema in town objected to the size of the cinema planned to be built at the new stadium, more disagreements, the main building contractor pulled out. He's completely changed things for the better, there's a much better relationship with key people, the team were tipped to finish 10th and have secured 4th with a home game against Toronto in the playoffs, crowds up 49% helped in part by all U16s being allowed in for free (do any other teams do that?)......the icing on the cake would be a new stadium. Fingers crossed but as I say it's a long long way off. Good luck with the new stadium. Even at this stage I'd still settle for a shared facility in the normanton area if it were to be definitely built. I'm still very pessimistic about Castlefords new stadium being built, just like I am with Yorks.
