Williams was ok yesterday probing the line a fair bit nearly scoring himself and laying one on a plate for a Reece who dropped it when it would otherwise have been a certain try.

The pack got dominated yesterday and when that happens any half backs are going to find it hard to control the game

On several occasions yesterday when we were attacking near the line, every time he was surrounded by Saints players. How many times in the past have we stood off other teams creative players and not closed them down. Could lessons be learnt there moving forward.

It was the perfect example of how to close down creative players, thus redecing their options.

Also, it shows the threat that opposing teams fear that he poses

You say it as if they weren't trying to quickly close down the Saints attack as opposed to the fact that they couldn't as Saints were winning pretty much every PTB and Roby was tearing us apart.

It is a general observation I have made Jakey over the course of a period of time.

How maby occasions have you seen when we give opposing halves so much time on the ball.

They showed a good example of how to close down the creative players thus reducing their options

TBH that's always been my main gripe with trinity, over the years, the defensive line don't seem to press up on the attack as other teams do, certainly not as fast. Although I must admit I think this has got a little bit better this season I still think we give them too much time.

Last tackle as well, oppositions half back seems to have all the time in the world to place a kick regardless whether they are on a roll steamrolling us or if we have them pinned down winning the battle, pressure on a kicker can make all the difference.

Williams wasnt allowed any time on the ball yesterday.

I also agree to a point that we havent done that as much lately, but do recall that creeping back in against Leeds a few weks ago.

He wasn't allowed any time on the ball because the pack was being dominated. If your forwards are consistently winning the collision and the team is on the front foot then your halves will have all the time in the world.

Exactly. Roby was cutting us up around the ruch and McCarthy Scarsbrook and Amor were awesome. Their line speed became terrifying

As you claim to be a St George fan I ask if you were at the game against Manly yesterday... it was a beautiful day in the Gong ... I spent the afternoon sat by the lighthouse listening to the crowd at the game... there were some disgruntled Sea Eagle faces who had left the game at half time!!!

I listen to every game that is not on fox on the radio- bbc radio leeds have a podcast that is there straight after the game- so I was driving to wok yesterday I was listening .
No I didn't go to the game yesterday - I don't get to many gong games as I should living in the shire- but where did that performance come from!!!!
happy to meet for a beer - lets go to a dragons game together and talk wakey - would you come to Sydney for a game there is one at kograh in a couple of weeks - me and a few mates have season tickets for there we will have some spares.
