What happened to the ref at half time , first half I thought he was excellent, very low penalty count , players soon stopped trying to milk a penalty for holding down, he just let the game flow, don`t think there was a penalty in first 20 minutes. That in my opinion is how the game should be refereed.
What a change for the second half, suddenly we see penalty after penalty for holding down, offside etc etc. We greatly benefited getting 7 pens on the bounce. You then saw the thing that I hate most in the game and that is players trying to `win a penalty `by milking it for a holding down pen. Then as expected ref levels it up by hammering us.
I thought ref was great in first half, my question - is there such a thing as a refs assessor who is allowed to discuss performance at half time. Its the only reason I can think of for such a massive change in approach from the ref in the second half. some dullard got stuck into him for no good reason.

I don't think his attitude changed between the halves, it was obvious that Huddersfield were playing to spoil though instead of playing the game, this was picked up on by several commentators on social media too.

He did seem to come out with a different attitude in the second half, and he needed to, they got away with too much in the first half at the ruck.

I thought Mr Hewer's performance was the best refereeing I have seen at BV for years.

He tried to keep the game flowing but had to resort to hitting Huddersfield's spoiling tactics in the second half. We then got a bit sloppy and gave some dumb penalties which we have to get out of our game.

He might have missed some infringements but I couldn't see a problem with any decision he made.

I agree, Hewer reffed that perfectly. He let the game flow until he had to take action which he did. Probably the best reffing I’ve seen in a while too and he had full control letting the game flow best he could.

Agreed. Nothing to do with the ref. The players changed the penalty count by trying to hold down, get offside to slow the game. Few high shots for good measure.
When he "evened things up" we were just as much at fault.

I'm sure refs try to be as fair as possible but they can't possibly see everything. You don't hear how players talk to them either so sometimes things take a turn based on something you are not privy to.
