Interesting podcast on the BBC about marketing and whether we do enough as a sport or are we stuck in this ‘northern rugby league bubble’. It’s more about experience these days than just what happens between the first and last whistle.

Me personally I think we don’t do enough as a sport to promote our game, yes it’s difficult with no investment but there’s clever ways to go about this than spend masses of money.

I know as a club it’s difficult with the facilities we have to generate a more exciting match day experience than say a bigger club with more money and better facilities.

You only have to look at the likes of York who seem to be doing all the right things here.

Whether it’s the match day experience or watching games through online apps, there’s definitely improvements that can be made.

Is the way Warrington titled the Wigan game as ‘bad blood’ a good thing? Does this attract new spectators bring back those who have lost interest in the game?

No doubt people have different opinions on this however it would be good to see what we are Wakefield fans think?

I've always been a cynic when it comes to marketing. Marketing works on people who are easily marketed to.

The club could spend as much as they wanted on the game day entertainment, but it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to people like me who turn up 10 minutes before kick off solely to watch the game, then maybe have a pint after while the traffic clears.

In sport, there's no better marketing strategy than a winning team or a cup run.

I think the club's marketing over the last year has been fantastic. I've said it before our fans are frustrating they want the world but cannot be bothad to come to the games "it's raining will watch it on TV". Etc. When fans are pushed i.e. million pound games they come. Can be a lazy culture.

I think our marketing is excellent

Our social media presence is very professional and always keeping up to date with everything wakey related

I only use twitter purely for RL and again our use of it is exceptional

We need to get better exposure on the BBC and SKY. Before our recent resurgance we were almost totally ignored unless it was regarding negativity in some way. We do seem to get more positive recognition these days through better performances, but I still notice how The Super League Show on the Beeb seems to relegate us to the last featured game quite regularly.
As previous posters have said, we need to bring a major trophy home and get that old Beverly's Brewery lorry out of mothballs. The crowds will throng Wood Street once again.

I always comment about us frequently being the last featured game on the SL Show.

I also notice after our match was shown on SLS last Monday, Tanya Arnold gave one throw away remark about the game then went straight into interviewing Lee Radford about the London/Hull game.
