Some great posts about one of the few Dirty Leeds' players I like.....
As other posters have said - and as an ex healthcare professional, I found that an extremely difficult watch.

Not much to add here but, Burrow is a top bloke, was a top player, especially given his physical stature and is conducting himself so well, under the most testing circumstances that you can do nothing other than feel admiration at both the man and the example that he's still setting.
Also, Leeds have to be congratulated for their efforts in helping get his story out and the support they are giving to Burrow.

Life really can be unfair at times.

This disease is a death sentence and I feel total sorrow for all afflicted by it. But you can’t help but feel that if not worse it’s certainly crueler in Robs case.

He’s a man who’s whole life has been about the physical and pushing the limits there of. I’m not saying there isn’t more to the man as clearly there is but I’m sure you get my drift.

Apart from the obvious pain and fear that all those who suffer this illness get, how exactly do you reconcile that only a few years ago you were a supreme athlete. Unimaginable to me. My life has barely changed in ten years, I’m still the shambling wreck I always was. RB’s life has disintegrated in the time I normally take picking my next car.

Really shocking and upsetting video.

I truly feel for him and his family, it's such an horrible disease. It's really hard to watch and the poor guys condition has deteriorated even quicker than you mention. The video below is from a Leeds academy game in early August last year. It's heartbreaking to see the difference.

I was once told by a doctor that one of the downsides to being a supremely fit athlete is how it affects your response to certain diseases and it’s quite the opposite to what you’d expect. These are chronic ailments by the way not the common cold.

Apparently, and I stand to be corrected, when your body is super tuned it actually speeds up the disease, most notable is Cancer. Where as with an old person it may take years, with a younger fitter person it’s month. All to do with cellular regeneration.

It’s a similar thing with drinking, I think it’s fairly well known that the fitter you are the quicker you get drunk. This is because your body is running at such a high metabolic rate that everything speeds up. I was told this a while back so maybe it’s out of date but it does kind of follow the creaking gate theory.

I know I’m digressing but you have to try and put some logic to what seems totally illogical. Again very sad.

Agree totally that it’s heartbreaking to see Rob like this and with a young family as well, I had the pleasure of meeting Rob just before a Wakey Leeds game a while ago, what a lovely young lad he was, so cruel how life can treat you when you see all the low life’s wasting oxygen.

I’ve always appreciated rob as a player
He was one of those guys that always gave everything on the pitch, spectacular at times

I must say I find it really hard to watch him now
It’s utterly horrendous what he is going through

It really puts everything in to perspective when you see a good bloke like rob having to go through something as bad as that
