Myself included I don't think we appreciate at times the risks our game involves. It will never be a 'safe' sport but we must continue to educate within the game as to why player safety must be the number one priority. It's a tough sport, it's meant to be and I wouldn't want that removed but wherever possible we need t to reduce the danger.
Whether it would have made any difference in this lads case I don't know enough facts to say, sometimes it's purely bad luck but all the same, to die at 33 as a direct result of a sport you played is brutal. https://www.totalrl.com/rfl-benevolent- ... -king-obe/ |
