Head of physio ryan carmody is on trinity tv giving injury updates

Matty ashurst........up to six weeks ankle injury

Tom johnstone .....a minimum of 4 week

Miller.....6 weeks knee injury

Josh wood .....5 to 6 months hamstring (sorry i did say 4 months on sunday)

Topou....there not sure

Alex walker also mentioned but i got board and frustrated so turned it off

Really interesting and useful clip. I hope it's a regular feature.

To add to your notes, Alex Walker having checks after a few weeks resting lower back issue. Bill not quite ready.

If Josh Wood is good for the season we need to look for a replacement, Crowther isn't a long term answer and it seems Bowes isn't deemed ready for regular selection. I'm struggling to think of many available options though. Maybe Halifax's Brandon Moore in the championship would be an option but he recently signed a new deal there, he's their captain and has a job away from the game so wouldn't necessarily be a particularly cheap option. Maybe we need to re-think the Andrew Fifita thing, save the quota spot and look down under.

Maybe the money we had left (going to spend on AF)and saved on tangata may enable us to bring in a hooker and a prop going on af not been cheap.i dont know the figures etc but think it would be more of a benifit if they could find the right player.like moore and acheaper quota player like kelepi was

So of those, there are three that could be deemed a serious loss.

One is TJ but I'm not sure where the minimum bit comes from, I suspect that was CC's generalisation talk, it's a compulsory four weeks, if he still has an issue after that I suspect his career may be over.

Tupou on current form is not the loss he once was. Ditto Ashurst.

Think we can get by without Miller though his form has been pretty good.

Woods is the real loss (apart from TJ), not that he's been great but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of alternatives.

All this is unfortunate but it's no worse than most other clubs and can't be used as an excuse for only playing 50 minutes.

Think the thing with TJ is that he's currently "resting" so will need to get back up to suitable fitness once cleared. The challenge cup week drops nice for Tom.

I think there maybe a case for TJ to wear a head guard as per BJB in the future.

Head guards do nothing BG been told few times when i been at hos when one of my lads took a knock

I know what you are saying but I wouldn't go as far as saying his career maybe over if he is over that initial rest period, Stevie Ward was a very unfortunate but very rare case in the game and from what I hear his issues are that bad they are effecting him every day of his life. There are multiple players that have had to have multiple, extended periods out of the game (Luke Keary springs to mind) and have just come back and gone on as normal.

I think its a precaution more than anything but as the process is relatively new over here and it hasn't had to be used its new to a lot of people, in a couple of years time it will be the norm to see players taking these rests as precaution.
