Sky Sports and Superleague restructure : Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:06 pm
According to reports, Sky are not happy with the quality of some Superleague games shown this season, and they are the driving force for change in the structure for a more competetive competition..Unless something is done they are considering pulling out when the current 2 year contract ends.

I wonder if that is the reason they appear to no longer cover our games.

So be it, we should really start pushing streaming and team up with FTA rather than be beholden to a broadcast partner who is becoming hostile.

They don't give a monkeys about the quality of the games. They care only about the viewing figures. At no point will they have said, "good ratings but the interference around the ruck made for a poor game, so let's cut the budget" or anything similar.

Presumably the viewing figures are declining, and that is the only reason they would consider pulling out. Whether that is to do with declining quality of games or other factors, I don't know, but the game has a problem that it has to fix. The Lions tour gets its own dedicated channel. We get Bill Arthur.

Personally, I don't think the game quality has declined. Last years Grand Final was one of the best ever. I've seen some crackers this year. The lack of a crowd has a huge impact though.

That shows how bad we are at playing good rugby lol SL should have followed the American Super Ball franchise .Rules to make sure best players shared around all clubs .,then Australian R L went over there was how it was working and, copid it .The game over here is run on greed ,and owners do not give a toss about SL ,just there own club and are willing to go to any length to make shore they get the money as they are so much in det .

The Aussies rule everything about Rugby League. If they don`t co-ordinate any changes they will just do there own thing . The RLWC will probably not go ahead because the Aussies and NZRL says the risk of Covid is too high for them to send players over here, yet nearly 500 Athletes went to Tokyo, so whats the difference ?

I’ve just recently cancelled my subscription, sick of the mediocre commentary, lack of airtime (not only for Wakefield but the sport itself) and watching reruns of premier league years at 6am instead of the multiple NRL games that are on.
