There’s an interview been done today that says they’ll need players from the north. Not a chance of them going with 25 local players, they’ll get annihilated.
The more I think about, the less likely I think they are to even start next season.
No they wouldn’t. They will be bottom for a few years but that’s how organic growth works. I’ve not seen this interview but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t expect them to commute. I mean seriously are there not dozens of young single men willing to relocate to Cornwall either permanently or for the summer, jeez is it that big an ask? Aussies do it all the time and that’s a lot further away.
If enough young northern players aren’t willing to chance there arm then we deserve to be a regional tiny sport. Surely they are not so precious that like millions of Brits they are not willing to move for work in their chosen profession or are we really that backwards?

But then you're asking players to give up their full time for the summer.
The only way it will happen in my opinion is if they can find players willing to travel down every other week for home games and not actually train together.
I want it to work, but the scattergun approach to expansion makes me sceptical. I think it's amateur from the other clubs complaining it's too far to travel, it's one trip a year that I'm sure even the smallest of clubs can work around. I'm more concerned at what's in place to help Cornwall succeed and previous experiences make me think it'll be very little.

I don't get your logic.
I'm not talking seasoned pro's here, this is after all the third tier comp. So why can't young players move to Cornwall either permanently or part-time, I don't see an issue. I'm talking here about the dozens of 19-23-year-olds who have been let go by their clubs and thus are unemployed.
Sure it's not for everyone especially if you have plans outside the game but there must be enough players willing to give it a go, like I say, players from Queensland seem quite happy to end up part-time at Workington, where is the difference?
Remember this Perez chap happily bankrolled Toronto so enticing a few decent young players to Cornwall would hardly stretch him financially. A core of young second chance players with no ties paid full time, all be it modestly, is well within his capabilities. The poor bloke has learned a lesson and is trying to do it the right way and still, people won't give him a chance, christ on a bike this is a smallish venture that won't cost much, unlike the previous grandiose schemes, whats to lose?
You watch, they will in the end have to use Aussies because our players are so insular they won't take a gamble and then people will moan about Aussie mercenaries. It's not just the RFL to blame a lot of the time, it's the game, I'm no expansionist zealot but we are incredibly insular when compared to the Aussies, it's the players although having said that many were able to get to Toronto and back.

A young lad released by a SL club with no job away from the game yet, then yes, that’s a fair point. And if they can get them then and find them work in the area it would be more appealing.
This morning I’ve read an interview with Perez where he doesn’t rule out some full time players, so a bit of a different take from the previous two days which would make recruitment a bit easier.
If he cracks it’s then I’ll hold my hands up. I by that I don’t mean SL, just getting them remotely competitive in League 1 will be massive. My doubts remain, but we’ll see. If we drew them in the cup I’d happily drive down for a long weekend.
This is exactly how I see it about player relocating down here. There are loads of jobs down here so should be no problems getting work. The life style should be appealing as well. It’s nothing like back in the north. Super relaxed and the beach every day. Should be a good selling point as you sat to young men and even ones with families as it a completely different life style. Similar I’d say as to why Catalan can entice players as it’s a total life style package their getting. Also there are so many good rugby players down here that I really believe will give it a go. On BBC iPlayer on spotlight news (cornwalls local news) today 5th nov there’s a piece on it with the lad whose going to run it and the guy who runs penryn rfu. It’s an interesting watch. It’s about time expansion worked for once and putting big money about and buying your way in isn’t the way as seen so many times. I hope that that is a lesson learned this time and it’s allowed to grow organically:)
Genuine good luck to the club in their endeavours to establish the game down in Cornwall , I’m all for RL expansion wherever it may be , here or abroad . The games dying in the heartland so everyone keeps telling me , so good on em for having the balls to set it up and have a go .
If the game is dying in the heartland ,it's all down to a sport not been run properly and greed of clubs

It’s the most plausible one since Catalan.
There is a basic infrastructure, yes it’s primitive and will require us not treading to heavily on the toes of RU.
In truth I wouldn’t invest much of the games money in it but as a private venture it has some potential but it will take years.
They do however need a far better ground, the Falmouth stadium is inadequate even at that level.
The game Isn’t dying in heartlands. They contain the future…
Good way of putting it. RL suffers dreadfully from inverted snobbery and a belief that the grass is always greener.
People go on about the M62 corridor as of it’s a bad thing, yer it contain 3 major cities, a couple of smaller ones, endless large towns and close access to another three cities. Combine all that lot and you have a population and a financial base not that far off the Low Counties!
We’ve barely made a dent in truth yet we persist with stupid pipe dreams. Get the heartland strong again and when it is then expand.
I don’t mind the Cornish adventure as it just adds a little colour to the game at no real cost. However every spare penny the game does make needs piling into heartland development or the game will die.
