Analogy time. : Mon Jun 12, 2023 9:31 pm
Just a thought, I read with interest on other forums that certain players informed at various clubs that their contract will not be renewed & or, their next contract will be for one season & or reduced ?
So, they act up by not playing to their ability or simply don't perform in full on contribution to the team ?
This happens at trinity as well as other clubs,
Therefore, is it time to prevent contract discussions/ approaches during the current playing season, there is enough time in the close season, thus players would have an incentive to play full on for his current club or potentially a new club ?
Its fine saying they should be fully professional but on/ in many occasions it doesn't happen ?

Everybody is allowed an opinion or a thought but I don't go for any of that.
I don't believe professional players 'play up' when they don't get the contract they want. Of course some motivation goes for some if you are being let go but you need to show your worth to get a contract elsewhere.

I also think the rules as they are, are fine. Players need notice to talk to other clubs. Telling them in off season gives them no time to negotiate leaving them with working round CEO holidays. When you have a mortgage and/or a family you don't want to suddenly find you are not going to be paid in a couple of months time.
