Just hope it's nothing too serious. We have plenty of options in the forwards , with Huby and Hirst goth going really well but, Big Dave gives us the X factor and he would be a big miss for us, just as he was after going off against Leeds.
The article in League Express starts by saying: "is thought to have picked up a medial cruciate ligament injury." but the goes on to quote Chris Chester as saying: " it was something to do with his knee. I don't know if it is a cork or a medial" In our Aussiefied game, I believe a 'cork' is a deadleg. ????
So basically they don't know, as Dave was going for a scan today.
Not wishing to be a smart a*** but I'm a Physio and there isn't a medial cruciate ligament. There are 2 ligaments that cross over deep and centrally in the middle of the knee (anterior and posterior cruciates) that stop the Thigh and shin bones sliding directly forward and back on each other. Rupture of the front (anterior) makes the knee very unstable in most instances. The medial ligament is on the inside of the knee. It's not great if its ruptured either but is a bit less problematic than ACL. Degree of strain or tear is obviously important too.
I did my medial ligament on my right knee playing rugby a number of years ago...it's very painful and stiffens up badly. Can't see him playing for 5/6 weeks if it's that. Hopefully it's a dead leg as he will be missed.
