Retiring Players : Mon Apr 09, 2018 11:54 am  

I've seen a lot of speculation about Kirmond calling it a day at the end of the season at 32, whether that's on his Trinity, SL or RL career I do not know but are there any other players we are likely to see depart over the next season or so?

Can't see England and Huby calling it a day. They are both still playing to a high standard. Anthony has probably started this season the best he has any.

Well someone gave Grix a new deal to 2019 so can't see him calling it a day.

Yep, at 31 a prop is usually just coming into his prime and generally can go on to 35/36 in most cases.

Grix will be 34 next month, but still has another year on contract! His body seems to be holding up well. Hopefully in Jowitt we have a ready made replacement and hopefully we can mould Ryan into Finnys replacement with little disruption, he seems to be good enough from what i have seen of him. It`s up to Chester and his staff to manage this transition period in those pivotal positions.

Finn potentially, onto the coaching staff? A real reason why we need to stick it out with Hampshire at 7.

He already does a fair bit of coaching with the reserves and 19's

I think Grix is feeling the mileage.
That's not to say he has nothing to offer, far from it, but I think its getting tougher and tougher for him to roll with the punches.
Plenty of players like that in SL of course but its a brutal sport and it takes its toll.

Think this could well be Finns last season to be honest, especially if Miller and Hampshire continue to gel well together. I did say at the end of last year that following the World Cup, and pretty much playing every game since signing, that I wasn’t certain that he would have enough gas left in the tank.

I think Grix has maybe 2 more seasons left in him.

I also expect Huby and England to have a few years left yet, barring injuries.

Two more seasons after this season?! I cant see him going beyond his current deal which is up at the end of next season. I think Grixy would make a good coach as well but the club cant employ every ex player unfortunately.

Only the players know how they feel, but I can imagine Kirmond ending up at Featherstone. Local lad and will get him an extra couple of years of rugby, if he wants it.
