Well we all live in hope don't we?
A community stadium for the CITY OF WAKEFIELD would be a great facility for all who live here, with the various events it could be used to stage.
If all those millions can be spent mainly for people who don't live in Wakefield (The Hepworth - which incidentally I don't begrudge even though the building and contents I find aimed at people on a different planet to me) then why can't the people who actually live in the City have a place to go to, to get enjoyment.
I love the Hepworth - I'm a regular, and it's always busy, and whilst it has brought in tonnes of visitors from outside the City, I'm sure that plenty of people who live here also enjoy it and benefit from it; I'd also love a Community Stadium and would enjoy that equally.
In short - it doesn't have to be an either/or - we should expect both - and but for a useless, dogmatic Council and its ties to shonky developers, we'd probably *have* both. It's especially galling to have spent the last 30 years watching Leeds blossom into an amazingly vibrant and exciting place, and we don't seem to be able to even get scraps from the table - Mr Box and his useless cronies should be thoroughly ashamed.
