Went to the game last night and I thought we had a dig and put some effort in the trouble is it was on an individual basis. We look so disjointed and all over the shop you could chuck a blanket on us we look like under 8 headless chickens.
I won’t gloss over it cause it was an error strewn awful game of rugby dished up by both sides, loads of forward passes dropped balls. We started ok contained them and even had a bit of field position at times but no end product. As soon as they attacked fast on the right side they cut straight through in fact at times no area of the field looked secure defensively but we kept going and at least tried.
The attack was simply woeful we just walk into the ball get no go forward in the key areas to play off the back of, our backs run more ball in than the forwards, broughs kicking as gone to the dogs 8 or 9 times he kicked it straight to the man. Do we still have hope yes maybe but my concern is scoring enough points cause we concede 30 odd a game to win.
IMO Chester needs to just simplify things now play basic percentage rugby with our forwards running hard and straight and even from our 20, the halves linking with each other and running from some depth while we get some confidence in us and supplying good ball to the backs. We’re making a simple game look complicated.
We must start our strongest pack and get a grip of the game and I’d drop Brough and play miller and rocky in the halves purely for pace., stop running sideways run into space and keep the ball.

I applaud you for going last night , couldn’t face another performance like last 5 or 6 games ,

But think your hundred percent right about going back to basics - there is a lot of talk about kear and pretty much that’s the game plan he’s always promoted , we are in the mire and it’s between 3 clubs for the drop - London , hudddrsfield and us. We all have similar run ins and are in poor form. Think kr and Leeds are generally playing better.

Big worry in a basic plan is you Need to have a good kicker applying pressure to the opposing team and decent options at end of set . Sounds like that was one of our major issues last night with brough kicking out dead 4 out of 5 times.

Although I agree, if he goes back to basics all the haters will just moan that it's one out rugby and Chester can't coach an attack.

Unfortunately that is clear. We have relied on individual bits of class to get us through for the last couple of years.

I think we have gone as far as we can with Brough, clearly a good player but its just not working for us now. Too much play going through him for very little return, particularly on the last tackle where we need good attacking kicks and then to contest the catch.

The question for Mr Carter is whether Chester can do something to change things around?.
If the answer is bring in new players and hope that they will change the way we play then we may need a new coach that can coach some structure.

If the players are no longer available or injury free enough to do it that's not a lack of coaching ability.

Brough I agree with you but we have to put up with that until we dig ourselves out of the hole. We aren't the money club to just go buy another.

NO we don't have to put up with brough last season we finished 5th with Miller and rocky and we're 2nd top points scorers this year we went 3rd with Reynolds and rocky, work it out yourself

Chester no bottle to drop him, hes been crap all year. Where's the kicking game we were promised? To win the close games, they're not even close now mostly over by HT.

Not sure why we persist with brough as goal kicker either. IMO Rocky is a better goal kicker now and should be kicking the goals

A good coach is measures firstly on results and secondly on the individual and collective improvement of the team.
There is no other measure, EVERYTHING rests on the above.

Yes we had major injury problems and still have, although to a lesser extent but, the BIG question is whether Chester, with the players that we have available, keep us in SL and if not, then we either have to magic some reinforcements (players or help for Chester) or, make some changes.

We are right in the relegation dog fight and quite frankly, much as I believe that it will all rest on the London game.
Can we really afford to wait/gamble on winning that game ??
