I think this year will be the best ever in SL for Wakefield produced Academy players in the first.

Full first-team players.

Tom Johnstone
Danny Brough
Kyle Wood
James Batchelor
Jordan Crowther
Jay Pitts
Max Jowitt

Players who have made their first-team debut

Lee Kershaw
Titus Gwaze
Jack Croft

Players promoted to first-team

Connor Baily
Yusuf Aydin
Oliver Greensmith

Hope I haven't missed any.

That's 13 players, a team or just under 15% of players homegrown. I used to be embarrassed by how few Academy products we had in our team but now I consider myself quite happy, could still be better but it's a massive step forward from even ten years ago, especially when you consider that in 2006 we stayed up with a team that barely contained an Englishman let alone a Wakefield product.

You could also at a pinch include Hampshire and Kirmond as they are local lads.

Possibly, i thought he was on our books before moving to Wigan? Could be wrong.

Kirmond is from featherstone and started there on the wing
