We've usually flown from Stanstead, direct and at the moment, return flights are £60 + Ryanair baggage charges
Loads of places to stay, from Ibis budget and go up in price from there, plus hostals, Airbnb etc
The drive to Stanstead is a right royal pain but, it's the easiest way to get there.
Alternatively, fly into Carcassonne and transfer down.
Definitely worth a trip and to go to such a great place to watch Trinity is just a bonus
