So with France shutting it's borders to all except EU citizens with a negative test what does this hold for there future in SL.

Firstly it's unlikely there will be any normal or foreign travel either from the UK or other countries like France I cannot see how fans will be able to attend overseas looking at the current situation and the rest of this year. Teams may get special dispensation but I would cite the Australian open for potential problems

Secondly we are not in the EU which could now add to travel problems.

Thirdly the fixture list is going to be a headache

Finally with potential disruption can (a) they survive and (b) have a future in SL.

With only one French team that mainly isn’t French the answer is very little.

They managed last season (just about) and it will be the same again until things can open up a little.

I agree about fans though. It's hard to see any UK fans being allowed over there for the majority of the season, possibly all of it.
However, right now, it's probably more risky playing Leeds or Hudderrsfield ??

The question should be will the dragons be dealt with in the same way as Wolfpack were if they cannot compete due to not being able to complete fixtures if the french government decide to stop them playing. Surely the same as Wolfpack not being able to play due to visa issues.
Hmmm could make for another none season again!!!

Wolfpack failed to complete their fixtures because they went bust.

Any club going pop mid season would suffer the same outcome as Wolfpack, be it Catalan or Castleford.
Covid issues could make it very difficult for them but, we have to wait and see what happens.

We went with percentages for the "final" table last season and you would expect something similar this time around, should the game be affected in a similar way.

As I said, Catalans situation was massively different from The Wolfpack. The visa issues were a smokescreen for them running out of money.

Why?

Unless we are planning on being there for more than 90 days, there are no restrictions on entering the EU.

There may be issues around travel corridors based on infection rates, but given that France still refuses the "English" vaccine, and the French pharma Sanofi can't make the science work, it is more likely that Catalans can't come here, rather than the reverse.

*Which is why Bernard G has said Dragons will be based in the UK, as long as they are all counted as away games.

If our rich Z listers and influencers can come and go as they please I’m sure they’ll be fine .Or they could just come over on a dingy ,3 meals a day whilst here and they can always refuse their 3 bed flat in burmantofts, after game cause a riot n get sent back home on plane ,simple .

I wasn't referring long term I know we can go to the EU for 90 days in any 180 provided your passport has more than 6 months on it.

I was referring to France shutting it's borders now except for EU residents that may well be short term but it may last much of this year. With the latest reports that social distancing could last for most of 2021 it's not a good position for a non UK based sporting club playing in a British league. I hope this clarifies my point

Don't the situations re Toronto Wolfpack and Catalan Dragons indicate how fickle the whole idea of overseas expansion is. Ok, we're experiencing unprecedented situation during the last twelve months, and who knows we may yet lose British clubs before the endemic is over, but the ease with which Toronto disappeared shows the vulnerability of such clubs. Let's concentrate on our traditional clubs.
