Good luck to WP, I don't expect a win this week, but I do expect a response from the players, most of all some results over the next 7 matches ! That all the players back & support the new coach what ever were & are previous issues unknown by us, they are also playing for their own futures where ever that may be which they need to demonstrate to the club & any future clubs, feelings however difficult should not become toxic to one's self, that road is destroying one's self. So good luck Willie, I will be supporting you.

I expect us to race into a lead then lose momentum as we have all season, that can't be changed in a week. The only thing that might save us is if the new coach syndrome gives the players enough self-belief and enthusiasm to just hold on. It's a long shot but there is more chance of it happening now than there was a few days ago.

Of course, it could all be a total disaster so I suggest you prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

Finally, if we do perform a miracle don't assume that it's anything to do with WP, he will have had no chance to have any real input. Ditto don't assume it's a kick in the teeth for CC, players always respond one way or another to a coach leaving in the first game.

Judge both coaches at the end of the season, in fact, judge WP halfway through next season should he get the gig. I remember Tony Smith coming in at the end of the 2005 season and setting the world alight, following season he couldn't beg a performance from the players.

Hope he does well, one of my favourite players to represent the club and a great guy to boot. If he does get the role full time, I hope it's not because of a new coach bounce and because he genuinely is ready for the headcoach role and the players respond to him. As a captain on the pitch he was inspirational, hope he has the same affect as coach.

I think that's my fear, great guys don't often make great coaches.

That said I know a few stories about Willie and although they don't make him in any way a bad guy they do show a certain ruthless streak that would surprise some.

I remember when he 1st came over and signed for Hunslet one newspaper report described him as bad boy Willie Poching.
