Just picked up this radio chatter from jet pilot to control tower..

Control, "Confirm, commencing bombing run of Belle Vue"

Pilot, "Confirm, bombing run, locked onto target"

Control, "Roger that, cleared to fire and destroy,, make a mess of it"

Pilot " Abort, abort....Someone has beaten me to it"

they used the pit head at Nostell as turn, one day I was actually at the top of it prepping to do some work at the weekend when two came along, I could of asked asked him for his autograph he felt that close

Yes we heard the jet/s. Extremely loud never heard anything that loud since Concorde used to fly to Leeds/Bradford.

Used to deliver Diesel to the truck stop at Leeming Bar, the tank was at the back in a field at RAF Leeming, when them Tornadoes fired up ready for the off if you were on top of the vehicle at the time you could feel it vibrating and the noise was horrendous.
