Reserves v wigan : Sat Jul 23, 2022 1:16 pm  

Dont know if anyone went today v wigan but what a game,we had a player red carded in first minute another off injured after about 5 minutes and yes we lost 24 20 but that was on goal kicks alone and we had a clear try dissowled.the effort from the lds was first class

Yes mate, just got back.
Great effort as you say, defo red for Pat O'D for punching and Kobi went off injured.
Think we would have won with 13 on the pitch.

Weren’t the reserves unbeaten before today too?

That’s some effort with a man down and 2 subs all game.

Makes you wonder who coaches the reserves as they always seem well structured in attack and defence. Isn’t it Apelgarth I’m sure I read? (The same person who coached our excellent academy last season).

There’s a few young players in there who could maybe worth bringing through next season to the first team.

Think they have one other defeat away to Newcastle, on missed kicks similarly.

Apparently he's a 'one dimensional coach'.

If that's the case bring him on as that one dimension seems to be to create winning teams with a never say die attitude. Win win in my book.

Yes hes certainly more than one dimensional and he gets the payers to fight for the team my lad plays under him at college and played 5 reserve games now incuding yesterday he loves playing for mash a he likes how he is,he gives plenty of encouragement gives bollocking s when needed but raise when its deserved too .

And you’ve all got first hand experience of working with him over a long and protracted period.

For the record, I didn’t say he was a bad coach or that he wouldn’t go on to be a better coach than he currently is. In fact I suggested if he was to go cut his teeth as a Head coach in the Championship he could kick on and be a future SL coach

None of that negates the fact that at present he works to a very tight format, players have a defined but restrictive job description dependent on their position. It’s effective but doesn’t really foster their best development and on that he neglects to include some players who need to play to help their development in favour of picking his top team for every game.

You lot continue to protest all you like in your ‘informed’ opinions though
