The Fifita Effect : Thu Jul 13, 2023 4:03 pm
Both on an off the field. I fully support the recent interview with Mash about DF.
At Crigg, his support has been immense, not only with the open age but turning up early to get involved with junior teams. Last night he turned up and put our new under 14 girls team through their paces and then our helped with our developing ladies team. Always with a smile and nothing is too much trouble for him. Our roster has grown as a result. Quite amazing.
Transfer that to the pro environment and up many, many notches and it’s easy to see what an effect this has on his team mates. For example, Atoni, he is like a new man and he’s not the only one. The buzz around the terraces and elsewhere is immense. We suddenly have hope and optimism compared to the doom and dross we suffered for three months. All this has happened in a very short space of time.
I’m very long in the tooth and go back to the 50s but I cannot remember anyone playing for Trinity with such charisma and having such a galvanising effect on the spectators, team and the club and especially in its media perception. To us he is the Crigg Bopper and to the club he is the Big Bopper. We need to recognise this immense contribution to our fortunes from his near 150 games. His final departure will be emotional. Big Bopper Bar or something like.
Up the Trin.

We're not safe yet, not by any means but, from where we were before he arrived, to where we are currently is just increddible.
I feel sure that when "the book" is finally written, there will be some other factors in our resurgence but, for now, lets just enjoy the second coming.

Oh David Fifita, oh David Fifita.!

I find all this talk a little dangerous.
We are 2 points behind Cas, who ar present must remain our first target.
I agree that a feelgood factor seems to be in full swing at the club, while as at0 present seem down in the dumps.
Our forthcoming home games could prove to e the difference in staying up. Or relegation.

Whether we stay up or not, his influence is clear to see. The fact the first sentence has doubt in in it rather than certainty (in a negative sense) also speaks volumes.

Not saying Dave will keep us up ,but I went to home game against Leeds just to see Dave .He as put smiles back on fans faces Never though the team would play away and take between 800 to a thousand fans this season, A lot of that's down to Dave's influence on the team and the fans Seen plenty of great overseas players down at Wakefield, but Dave as got to be up there with the best he as just got the x factor

We have been really blessed to have him I think, there really needs to be something named after him at the club, I propose the The Big Bopper Bar.

He will make a brilliant coach one day, hopefully with us.

I will hold my hands up and thought brining him back might be wasted money so would be a mistake. So glad I am wrong and now about time to put trust in any new players we sign young or old and the past is the past

He deserves more than a pie stand naming after him.
