Read it properly.

Last year (season), Wakefield were offering Brough and cash.

Old news. Not this year, not now.

I've not bought the WE for a few years, ever since their so called Rugby league expert announced the Trinity player of the season at the end of season posh do as the wrong March twin - a choice of 2, one didn't play for us, one did but he still got it wrong. Hopefully it is still the same reporter writing what we can safely say will be rubbish.

Can anyone tell me where it's come to light this week that We were prepared to offer DB plus cash? Just sounds like a desperate journalist after filling some dead space in the paper. Its the kind of speculation I expect to see in the Sun or Star not from our local rag!

Yeah, in this article that they link to at the bottom of their article: Last season, the Mail understands Cooke was offered to Wakefield as part of a player-plus-cash deal which would have seen Danny Brough move the other way. The only stumbling block on that deal was that Wakefield couldn't afford Cooke's large salary. Basically they are reporting the repeating of old speculation by another newspaper as news.

I did my work experience at the Wakefield Express in 1995. The week I was there was when it was first reported about a potential new stadium. A women from another department came in and asked the sports desk if they had a more news about it and was told it was nonsense and they had nothing else to report that week and made it up!

I don't believe the Brough/Cooke story and I also won't believe the new stadium is anything more than paper talk until I see us actually running out there.

And getting it wrong too - the article from Hull suggests it was cash + Cooke offered for DB not the other way round as the good old WE has reported it!
