It's probably more simple than that. It may simply be the case that we could offer him a better contract. Even Leeds have a budget and seeing how many juniors they Hoover up they can't keep them all.

I have heard that a few youngsters in their academy are not happy with the setup and how they are treated, just a rumour though

hence why Smith went to wire, Also I know a off a player would like to come closer to home who's with Wigan, used to play stand off and then went to full back when playing in the juniors, Lewis Heckford once high a prized player as every club seemed to be after him, I like the lad and he's had a rough time of late I do hope I see his name soon on any team sheet

Tom Schoefield will be available to play under 19`s, he played every game for Leeds under 19`s last season and was in many peoples minds their best player. Really looking forward to seeing play at Trinity, think have Finn as part of our under 19`s coaching staff will bring the very best out of all our junior half backs and play makers.

I don't doubt it. It's the nature of the beast. Leeds and Wigan in particular will always have this problem. They sign so many good youngsters it's amazing but can't give them all the chances that the youngsters themselves feel they deserve.There are just not enough first team slots available.

At a club like ours where most of our youngsters are more punts rather than certainties there is always room for 'big club rejects' (which is totally the wrong description) to thrive.

Long may it continue. I'm happy for us to grow our own but I don't mind Leeds covering the cost of a few aswell

Wasn't he and 2 other Wigan academy players up on rape charge? Trial still ongoing?
