No, the ideal way will be to respond to any call for action from the body tasked with delivering the project on the behalf of the fans of the club and the citizens of Wakefield - the Trust.

When they call - I'll be there!

I'm sure are "more passionate" and dedicated fans than me out there - but not loving many!

I support this club in any way I can - my work colleagues think I'm a bit of a saddo - that's how I know I'm actually a decent fan!

Firstly, the thread was closed because of the comments not the OP.
And the answer is the same to you as was made to NGB4C......
If you thinks it's a good idea go do it. Don't moan at others who don't want to do it for you.

Because you think it futile, doesn't mean it's futile. Infact, you're just an example of self-fulfilling prophecy. Getting this forum united and organised behind the idea of a protest would be an ideal starting point to get support. But then again... if we can't get the support of our so-called most passionate on here (like you), then what is the chance outside of the forum?

It's been done it's futile now end of.

It's the courts or nothing.

Let's get one thing straight - we don't get to chose which laws we accept, that's not how a democracy works.

We will have our day in court, if we win we win if we lose we lose. That is where it gets decided not on the streets by a rabble even a well meaning rabblle.

That only alters if Box defies a judgement that goes against him. That's when he becomes a tyrant and that's when you'll find real support amongst the local population.

We are some way off that just yet imho. A lot of what's happening right now is posturing from both sides - people need to keep it in perspective - I know people or all fired up by Corbyn and his fake rebellion but this is not Zimbabwe.

Re: Imagine... : Sun Nov 26, 2017 11:01 am
I've said this on another thread.

The general public still believe "Wakefield trinity want the council to pay for them a new ground".

The more wakey fans stand outside the town hall protesting, the more it alienates the community. If people believe its trinity v council, they will unfortunately side with the council.

The trust are taking the council to court (in a nutshell) due to the handing over of greenbelt land for community facilities that haven't been provided.

The fact that Wakefield need a new ground urgently is almost an entirely separate issue.

Trust that the trust, if you will, are doing everything democratically possible to force the best possible outcome for all parties.

I'd never be as patronising as to tell anyone to "take their Wakefield glasses off" cause you're passionate about your club and that's commendable.

But there is a much bigger picture here, and I feel as strongly as you do about the loss of greenbelt land for a big white tub and nothing else to show for it

Think you're underestimating the good Wakefield public if you think they believe that the club want the council to build a ground for free, where's that come from? A lot know fully the situation, the people of Wakefield are owed whilst the council are letting a company that owes us make 80+ million on Newmarket. I live and work in Wakefield and talk to all types of people from all walks of life and a lot are knowledgeable and rightly concerned about community stadium it's not just about sports fans it's about civic pride. Don't forget forget a lot aren't happy with the way the council is run and are keeping their eye on the community stadium farce and how they're letting York Court make millions without giving back what they owe.

You're probably right, although beat in mind that the ones who AREN'T in the know, are only reading what the lines of the Wakefield express are printing - which I'm sure you're aware is very anti-trinity.

I still believe that ill conceived protests from a selection of passionate Wakefield fans is counterproductive to the cause of the trust.

But yes, the council and YC are merely trying to benefit each other from any developments. As I say, it should be frustrating to the community as a whole ,not just trinity supporters, if they ALL knew the full story.

Tend to agree with what you are saying here Dave, I speak to many people in my work and people generally don't know whats been going on and frankly many of them don't care. They really don't know it's a 'community stadium' being sought by the trust, most I speak to think it is just for WT!

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Re: Imagine... : Sun Nov 26, 2017 9:34 pm
The whole thing needs a big push in the media by the Trust to emphasis that it is a community stadium which is being sought, I truly doubt that this would be helped by a group of Trinity supporters protesting at this moment. Doing this would only play into the council's rhetoric that this is solely about the club wanting a 'free stadium'.

I'd honestly say that the vast majority of Wakefield residents don't know the ins-and-outs of the situation, and many won't care if they believe it is just a rugby stadium which is being built. We need the presence in local and national papers as well as possibly in court, but it needs to be viewed separately to the club.

Would it not be possible, and beneficial to the cause, for an open letter to be sent to the WE explaining the COMMUNITY STADIUM aspect, signed by "The Trust". Surely this would not be detrimental to any future legal implications. and would reach the public at large.
