Re: Fifty long years : Mon Jan 01, 2018 10:33 pm
TRB, FIL and I were all in the same class at school, born 1965 so missed the glory years and too young for the watersplash final. Throughout the 70's we had a few near misses in semi finals then cracked it in '79 when I could finally go to Wembley having been promised it by my dad. Alas it wasn't to be and but for a Yorkshire Cup win v Sheffield we've all been starved of success throughout our lives. I'm sure they'll both agree with me we're long long overdue a visit to a major final and after last year when we were so close I sense we're getting closer and I'm really buzzing at the prospects of our current squad. The most wonderful thing for me would be for me to take my boy to Wembley and though my dad is in his 70's now, for him to be there too. Despite the lack of success we still all love the club, it is in your blood, your hearts, your family's bond. My cousin who was brought up a massive Trinity fan now travels to watch St Helens from her Wakefield home, I could never envisage doing that. No matter we've been starved of success you still look forward every year and live in hope that this will be the year when we finally hit the jackpot again.

sorry guys but with our budget and stadium , our goal at the start of every season is staying in super league .

this is looked at half way through the season and like last year I hope we can start to dream.!

a bad injury run though and we will be fighting!

Any team that gets a bad injury run would struggle - even your team Cas.

Sorry, I meant we won the championship trophy in 68.
We have never finished top of the league in our history.

Apart from the emergency wartime league in 1943/44.

Correct Emley...my dad took us on the bus to Wembley in '79 and I will never forget that day, even though we lost.
We have supported this team prior to that, and ever since, through thin and thinner times, but we continue to dream, don't we !!
All credit to our neighbours from across t'Common for turning themselves around and if we continue in the same way that we have over the past two years under Chessie, then hopefully success will not be too far away.

To the ones that are old enough to remember the '68 final, what did Leeds do that upset everyone so much ??, as all we ever see on TV is the kick off that leads up to our try and Foxy then missing the goal :DEPRESSED:

Cas have turned them selves around but are still to win a major trophy - challenge cup or super league title. Can we win one before them??

no reason if we get on a roll and favorable draw we cant win the cup this year!! be good to get one before cas who chocked last year really - very lucky to get through to the GF and should of lost in semi! Played terrible in the big games.

Not so much Leeds but the very biaised referee and that is being complimentary to the official. Not sure if its on Trin TV. I have a copy at home somewhere.
