I don't know about 40 years. That is too much to consider and there's no pint; it's done. But here and now, I have been asking myself the same question. I don't know enough about interchange tactics and can't keep up with who is on and off the pitch but I do wonder if our current 'dominate big part of games then blow up for 20 mins a match' malaise is something to do with that. Answers from more knowledgeable Rugby fans please. But the familiar thing is, we are dominating, we have possession then we go mistake, penalty, try and that's it, bubble burst, into the shell for 20...mins and points quite often. I am sure the coaching team and players will have looked at this but it isn't working thus far. Today we didn't recover for 25 mins from Pauli Pauli's loss of the ball on their 20m line, when up at 18-8 after 45 mins. We also do barmy things, culminating in not takeing a short kick off with a min 20s on the clock after Sneyd's drop goal. I know he was trying to find touch with a hard flat kick but the chances of that coming off are far less than a short ko in my opinion. Just daft. And we just let Sneyd have all the time in the world to take aim as if we didn't believe he could kick a 52m drop goal.
That said, I love this side and this Chairman so I can't be too harsh. But it is damn frustrating to see us keep being part architects of out own downfall
