Calm Waters don't make good sailors

Re: Jordy Crowther : Mon May 28, 2018 10:37 am
Jordy is a quality kid on and off the field. Tough, honest and gives everything. Every team needs workhorses and he can play a bit too with good hands. Hes also played half a game at hooker for Dewsbury and hooker for our reserves burrowing over near line away at Wigan.
Think it's Vasty that says backs get more exposure due to pace and it's easier as forwards work can go unnoticed and they don't mature till 26. I think anyone would have signed Dean Hadley (quality) this year at 25 years old, yet if asked at 21 if you would have signed him, most would have said Dean Who?? Anyway never mind Crowther there's an Amos on its way..That kid will be a player

Unfortunately, has barely been given that opportunity for us.

If Arona does go at the end of the year, I would be more than happy for him to be given an extended run in the team.

However, Jordy may well want to play, week In, week out, and you couldn't blame him if he decided to seek pastures new.

Totally disagree with that, Hampshire is yet to live up to the hype imho and as yet hasn’t had a real impact. Maybe he will given an extended run but let’s not guild the Lilly just yet.

Here’s a crazy idea, why not coach a halfback (Hampshire would be perfect) to pass the ball fast and bullet like aka Danny Brough ? Also coach the forwards and outside backs to be prepared for such passes ? I know it sounds Wacky and ‘out there’ but it’s what most successful rugby league teams have in their armoury. Speed and accurate passing causes more problems than looped, telegraphed drop off balls which we seem to be pioneers of. Danny Brough in this Wakefield team would be top four, no doubts. Half backs are a major problem that are halting our progress. Miller is ok, just ok. Train them up properly for gods sake !!!!

I have to disagree with your comments on Hampshire. When he first arrived one of the things that impressed me most was his crisp accurate passing. I remember a game when he replaced Finny and the comparison of the passing was significantly noticeable, Hampshire looked much better.

Let’s be fair.... at the moment he couldn’t lace Danny Brough’s boots. I’m not saying he can’t improve into an outstanding halfback but he’s shown very little signs so far.

I think Danny Brough has been the best English (scots) half back of the last decade to be fair. To compare anyone to him certainly sets the standard extremely high.

I am hoping Hampshire gets an extended run at half and settles in and develops. I think he has all the attributes and feel we should be judging him after he has had a good run in the halves.

Totally agree, I think Finn can have some good games but age has got the better of him now. Keep Hampshire where he is and let’s see what develops.

Well it’s all about opinion and I don’t see that at all - I see a player who seems incapable of finding the final pass. As yet I have not seen him create anything, he just runs laterally with no end result.1

Finn maybe past his best but he is still head and shoulders above Hampshire.

I don’t deny the lads work rate or his obvious potential but atm something is missing. He now gets the run he has so desired and he needs to use it because he probably won’t get another.

It seemed on Friday that it was Miller that took on the organising role, and didn't doo too badly.

I do think though, that overall, Finn has done well for us, but now is the time that if we want to keep progressing on the pitch, we have to move in. His recent performances would also suggest that too.

Whether or not, long term Miiller and Hampshire are the future, remains to be seen, but without given them the chance to gel together, how are you going to find out.

Anyway, this thread was about Jordy Crowther, which, who my earlier comment regarded to
