I thought Hampshire looked really good yesterday, apparently we are looking at extending his stay which I hope is true, even if he is not first choice HB I think he is good cover for both HB and FB should he be needed.
It's easy to get carried away when your players have all the time and space in the world to do what they want to do, because the opposition are like a pub team - but he gave the total HB performance for me yesterday; he was tricksy, confident, set up some outstanding moves, and was like bloody Hawkeye with the boot.
If he can do that in an proper match, rather than an opposed training session, we'll be laughing; and if we're looking for another hb, it would then be as an understudy and cover for Rocky - which is a much easier market to be in.
Hampshire is settled, happy, quick, brilliant passer, magnificent natural gifted player, brilliant goal kicker, illusive, reads a game well, reads plays even better ( watch yesterdays tries - watch Hampshire after he makes a pass - naturally runs a great back up line supporting the carrier - you can`t coach this ). Add to this he is a Wakey fan. Whats not to like - he should be our first choice 7 for years to come not backing up some Aussie who may not settle, may not be any good, may not be as durable etc etc. Hampshire IMO is the most naturally gifted player of his generation.

I was told this by a member of the Giants talent spotter team over 6 years ago. He is a talent that’s for sure and hopefully he can find a home At Trinity
Entitled to your opinion BELLY but very bold statement, I'd love to agree but don't see players like this ending up at Wakefield currently.
Poorly treated by Wigan according to some in the game and then moved to Cas who stuck him on the wing before going to Leigh where he wasn't getting any guidance. Maybe he's had to come home to Wakefield for his talent to shine again? Sometimes a club and a player just fit - he's 23 and plenty of time ahead of him.

and one player that might fit that bill is Lewis Heckford 20 yr old who played the start of his junior rugby in the half back role then moving into full back role, Morgan Smith took his position there, since being at Wigan he's not come through the ranks and was loaned out to Dewsbury, not sure where he is at the moment as not on either website, had he taken the scholarship with us he might of been talking about him now coming through our ranks
Hampshire is going really well at present and was damned unlucky to be moved to FB when Finn came back in. I know it's east after the event but, I believe this cost us 4 points, which would have made things really interesting now.
Certainly deserves a new contract and we need to keep Miller and Hampshire together just as long as possible, which will only go to improve their understanding of each others game, which will benefit the team and the club.
Looking forward to seeing how he goes opposite the bookies favourite on Friday

I remember a Scout at the time telling me Heckford who played for Stanley was the best ever 14 year old he had ever seen. Pretty much every club in the country was after him and he chose Wigan.

Unfortunately with the situation he ended up involved in he lost almost two years and God alone knows how much damage was done mentally. Haven't seen his name around at all this year.
