As the title says Wembley week, I got an E mail this morning from the RL. "Dear Mr XXXX your tickets for the CC final have been upgraded, please dispose of the original tickets, your new tickets will be dispatched in the next few days". Errr it's Tuesday and we go Friday morning, sweaty palm time. :)

Does the RFL not live in the 21st Century and issue e-tickets ?

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

Never been to Wembley for an RL match, keep hoping that my first one will be with a Trin appearance there. I started following Wakey in the early 80s so missed out on '79, though I'm sure my parents would have thought I was too young to go.

I've been to the old Wembley once, to watch a World Cup/Euro qualifier when England beat Luxembourg 6-0. 5 of the goals were scored in the first half at the other end. However the only goal in the 2nd half was at our end, the best of the match and a pearler from Michael Owen.

I went to the new Wembley once a few years ago to see Robbie Williams in concert.

Both occasions were memorable but I really want to go there with Wakey.

A magic place, "Wembley". Last went in 2016 to see Barnsley FC whack Millwall 3-1 in League 1 playoff. Oops ! Sorry! Wrong forum. :)

Must have been great to be a Trinity fan in those days.

Was there as a Hull supporter with a group of fellow London students, some who had never seen a rugby league match but had been persuaded to come to help support Hull. Pre-match I had told them that we were hammered by a record score the year before by Wigan and this was revenge time. How wrong I was as you delivered another record score!

Upside to the match was that a Hull player was MOM and all the newbies to rugby league with me loved the spectacle. Saw you win the cup again in 62 and 63 as following my first final in 1950 I loved the occasion so much I went every year from then until I left England in 1966. I have since been back from Aus. on a few occasions to see finals when Hull played.

MOTM was hooker Tommy Harris as I recall. Am I right in thinking that he passed away recently, Freddie?

Your recollection is correct. Tommy went into the match with a shoulder problem which finally resulted in him leaving the game about 15 or so minutes from full-time. During the match he was injured and concussed a couple of other times and on his assisted walk back to the dressing rooms he received enormous applause from all parts of the ground for his courageous performance.

Tommy with your "Rocky" Turner was in the the squad that was the last Gt Britain side to win an Ashes series in England ('59-60). Turner and the Hull loose forward John Whiteley shared the position over the 3 matches and Tommy played all of them.

Tommy died in 2006 aged 79. Whiteley is still around.
