I think we need a attacking coach- at times last year our attack inside the opps 20 was terrible.

What about Barry Eaton who was assistant to McDermott at Leeds. He did a lot of the good work behind the scenes when they won there grand finals?

Did Poching have much say in the move to Leeds, especially given at that time the financial state the club were in back then.

Didn't we, only a few months prior to losing him, and up terminating several players contracts over a certain age, due to financial irregularities.

I do agree though that at the time, he was a good player, and was a significant loss, but we have had some better players since.

May not be a bad about as defence coach, it was the biggest asset of his game, and he and Chessie have worked together before

Whether he had much say I don’t know but there was no fee.

However Poching arrived as a no name from Hunter Mariners the year after the Pearman crash and wasn’t part of that,

Pretty sure Poching signed up for the first season in SL with Shane Kenward, Adrian Brunker, Steve and Frank Watene et al. I did a few weeks of work experience at the time and recall chatting to him. Top player, nice guy, not sure about his coaching credentials.

Don’t know why we are bagging a guy that was a good servant to the club during his stay. I recall him speaking passionately about the club when he received an award at the end of his last season at the club, I think Harbin was still with us & he said Poching had played that year whilst needing an op for a double hernia! Poching said after he left that he thought he’d see his career out at Wakey, but the offer from Leeds came out of the blue & was too good to turn down. Adrian Vowles also signed for Leeds at that time & I suspect he loved his time at Cas but also couldn’t refuse the lure of Headingley.

Anyway if Chester wants him at the club I’m cool with that, if not & I’m presuming Poching still lives in Wakey then perhaps they just enjoy drinking latte together?

Wow because I asked a question I am now obsessed with poaching? You have some serious issues

I don't even rate him and he would not be my choice for an assistant to be honest, the question stemmed from the fact that he is out of contract with Salford and has been enjoying an overpriced coffee in Wakefield centre with Chester at least 2 days this week so with this announcement was it such a ridiculous suggestion?

I'm of the opinion that Warrington started to go off the rails when Poaching left. However, I think the folk from Yorkshire may argue that it was more to do with his replacement, Richard Agar.
Either way, I wouldn't say no to him returning to the Halliwell Jones for a second stint as assistant coach.
I can understand the perspective of a different view should he have left Belle Vue under a cloud. As an aside, it was mooted that Monaghan was lined up to be an assistant to Tony Smith before he retired, but that never materialised. Strange how the two clubs have been linked recently.
