I reckon so aye - he sold a majority share for 150 million quid, and donated over 900k to Marie Curie Cancer Care; so whilst it may not be premium, it was certainly a great business.
Agree with the second statement though - it seems like a strange move to attempt to revive it, given that the retail ship appears to have well and truly sailed.
He has bought the intellectual Property rights so probably paid a small amount for a high street name
Retail is struggling however I don't think this neccessarily affects the cheap end so to speak. In fact I would say they're probably doing well out of people's lack of funds. Poundworld failed because of mismanagement rather than lack of footfall.
Would prefer Mr Poundworld to invest some of his millions in a new community stadium. After all, he is a Wakefield lad isn't he? A new Poundworld store is surely financial suicide.
