I did actually though a bit before your time. I can't abide these contrivances that diminish and detract from the game. You can put Magic Weekend in that basket as well.

I'm with you on this mate.
Frankly it gets a bit tedious year in and year out taking these changes on board, a lot of them just not necessary or making the game better to watch.Golden Point? just daft.
Football seldom changes anything but thrives.

The one rule change that would make the game better to watch is to go back to the competitive scrum with genuine hookers. Where's the skill element in today's scrum? Forget all this golden point crap in League games. Why does our great game over here have to crib NRL, Rugby Yawnion, football and even American football idiosynchrosies?

The scrum one is badly needed, but I think we'll just get faked injuries. And if both mess around, how do they penalise it?

Golden point? There aren't enough draws for it to be a concern. Last season, four draws in Super League out of over 150 games. Hardly going to change much. Out of those four games, might add some drama.

I wouldn't have chosen it but I'm not upset by it.
As Slugger says, it isn't going to affect that many games.... But when it does I'm happy we have Brough Miller and Hampshire to win it.

As for scrums, they need to be tidied up but anyone who remembers the repeated resetting of the scrum and collapse and then a penalty no one understood will not want to go back to that.

I wouldn't want to go back to that either but I'm sure there would be a way of making the scrums contested without the old fashioned scrum collapses.
As they are, they are a complete joke and may as well be done away with.

I remember a few years back our Boxing Day game against Leeds having to be called off and they rescheduled for New Years and made it a double header with Leeds RU.
We caught the back end of the Union game where nearly 10 minutes were taken up with one scrum, collapsing, being reset time and time again, only for it to eventually result in a penalty. Bored me to tears, so no thanks!!!

Many changes to Football Rules in recent years.

Offside rule, kick -off rule,defender passing back to goalkeeper rule, tackling from behind, VAR, tackling with studs showing, number of players on the bench, handling the ball rule(changes from ref to ref), etc.
