The debate here is not whether Sammut can play in SL and do OK because he probably can. Whats shocking is that the team that won SL and hoovers up all the best British youngsters needs a 31 year old never was Aussie journeyman even as back up - it's frightening.

As much as I'm all for this signing, I think Josh Woods played well enough (in the games I saw) to warrant being there as backup.

That's it for me too.
If a lower club with limited development with young players went for him I'd understand it but Wigan have better options and it surprises me they have gone this way.

It's been mentioned on VT that but like what happened with Bradford, I'm sure he was only exempt for that year the Crusaders went belly up so he could find employment. I've never heard of a career exemption from quota because there were also others from those 2 fallouts which it would apply to. Rhys Hanbury was part of the Crusader going bust and was exempt but I'm sure he isn't now.
