Brough and Miller will be fighting over who can get the longest drop goal to win games. I reckon that would be a good contest.

Also, I wonder who will take the goals if Hampshire is at full back. His strike rate is probably better than Brough now.

Serious question regarding the time limits on scrums and drop outs.
If there is a player injured or feigning injury, how can the game proceed ? Surely, there is a duty of care to all players.

A better system would be to stop the play and make any "injured" player leave the field until the next set is complete, unless they have been injured as a resuly of foul play ?

That rule is already in place. The medical team can come on whenever they see the need. Play doesn't have to stop unless ref needs to be involved.

OK, so what happens if a defending player drops to his knees in fron of the posts when there is a drop out ?

Or, a hooker is "injured" when there is a scrum call.


The medical team come onto the pitch to deal with them but, the shot/scrum clock becomes impotent ?

The rule is there so we live with it.

Like most things in life it doesn't always work for the best, what might fall you one day might not the next time, for me it's simply this if it ain't broke don't fix it it.

As for my original post I must apologise for misleading you as my post was intended for my friend Two Points and had nothing to do with this unnecessary rule change really

It's called cheating which is sadly coming more and more into the game, we ourselves encountered and suffered from this more than once last year when one or two clubs who are quite versed in the art successfully applied it when they were hanging on.

I agree and it's something that all teams are doing (even Trinity).
The shot clock and time limits on scrums are designed to reduce this but, in reality, the new rules wont work.

This is why my suggestion of "treating any injured" player but taking them from the fiels until the set is complete.

Although this would "punish" and side that had genuine injuries, it would instantly stop some of the time wasting that we have now.

Also, kicking/throwing the ball away used to be punished (sometimes) with a sin binning but, this no longer happens.
The rule needs enforcing.

Shouldn't often be a problem with this one, many times the hooker isn't even in the pack at a scrum.
