Yeah, apart from the bitter cold it was a decent hit out. The usual friendly sort of game, with swathes of interchanges coming on and off and if you took your eye off, you weren't sure who was on and that brought some disjointed play in both attack and defense. I noticed after the end of the first half, CC seemed to get some of the players who look like defo starters like Miller, Brough, Tupou, Ashurst, and Fifita off, probably to avoid any injuries. Think he gave just about every player of the 26 a hit out, also took some doing but got all the front rowers a crack which is a job in itself. Did I imagine it or was Horo playing in the centres in the second half for a bit?
You'd think with who the 2 scorers were, it looked like it was all planned but they were both well-worked tries.
Enjoyed it too. Quite surprised that Kirmo and Washy scored the opening tries..... Thought that Hull were the better team for the majority of the game - except for the first 10 and last 5.... Good game and well done to the Hull fans for a great turnout.... At least it wasnt 72-10 and they managed to keep their hands off each other......
So Wakefield outscore Hull by two or was it three tries and you think Hull were the better side - words fail me at times.

Anyway good game for 2 good lads.
Horo played centre as he took BJB off who seemed to pick up a bit of a knock, Lyne moved out to wing.
Few notes - Thought King showed some nice touches, Kops looked solid again in his stint, Fifita looks a lot sharper than he did on boxing day, looks more or less up to speed now, Ashurst I thought looked very good.
Pauli Pauli, seemed to do the bare minimum and never looked like he wanted the ball, yet when he did get his hands on the ball he caused them a few problems!
I thought we looked good with ball in hand in the first half and Brough kicked well for field position when he was on in the first half.

if words fail you then well..
thats because they were. for a start - and disappointingly - their kicking game was better in the conditions . we never really got going probably due to the numerous interchanges - and didnt threaten their line 2nd half until the last five mins of the 2nd half which came by the way of a break through the line. if you didnt see that then thats up to you - it was certainly noticed by myself and all those around me. However, on the plus side, a win is a win, even in a friendly.
Have to agree with you BarnsleyGull, Hull looked good when Kelly was on and still had Connor to use the wind in the second half. We might have scored a couple more tries than Hull vasty but up until the last 5 minutes, it didn't look like we'd score at all.
As a hull fan i thought the game was actually very good for a friendly, some great skill on show despite the tricky wind. i thought both teams were pretty evenly matched, probably why it was such a good game
First half with more or less our first team on we were toe to toe with hull and gave as good as we got ,with for me fafita when he came on a real handful . Second half with all the chopping and changing we lost momentum and had hull camped on our line for What seemed large parts of the half ,but credit to the lads their line defence was great . If the ref interpreted the game correctly my only concern from this game was the penalty count against us .

One day wakefield fans will learn positively but not yet aye. Unlike football in RL the best team always wins in my experience.

It was a good game. I thought we looked good when Brough was on. Kirmond hasn't been put through a gap like that since Smith left. Thought Max had a really good game at fullback. Our pack is massive. Both Kopczek and King are bigger than I remember. Crowther put in some monster kits in first half.
It was pretty even first half. When we changed around we lost momentum and Hull had most of the ball but we tackled them out on our line for 4 straight sets which was great. We looked well drilled. We won in the end because our reserves were better than theirs. No indication how a real game would go but I'm feeling good for the season.
